Summer Travel Guide to Jackson Hole, Wyoming

8/30/2024

Picture
I’m going to tell you about one of my most favorite places that I have ever visited! If you’re looking for a vacation that’s equal parts adventure, relaxation, and total Western vibes, Jackson Hole is the place to be!. My husband and I just got back from our trip, and I’m here to spill all the details—where we stayed, what we ate, the adventures we tackled, and of course, all the cute outfits I wore along the way!

Where We Stayed

We stayed in the cutest cabin walking distance to the Jackson Hole’s Main Street. The location could not have been better, it’s super close to all the action, so whether you're hitting the slopes, hiking or the shopping, you're never far from the fun. It was a very cozy stay, and reminded me of a mountain cabin. The only thing I want to note, if you stay in the basement unit like we did, you will hear the guests upstairs, but we put on a little white noise and it didn’t bother us!

Must-Eat Spots in Jackson Hole

We discovered some drool-worthy spots, all located in Towne Square, that you absolutely need to add to your list:
  • Persephone Bakery: This bakery is basically brunch heaven. Their croissants are flaky perfection, but the pastry case is actually crazy! There are so many delicious pastries to choose from. I tried the lavender lemon loaf, and it was delicious! The coffee was also great! It’s the ideal spot to fuel up before a day of adventure, but get there early or there will be a line!
  • Teton Tiger: Blake and I love Thai food, so this was highly recommended to us, and it did not disappoint! They serve some of the best dumpling I have ever had! Their dishes range from Thai to Chinese to Korean to Indian – so there is a little something for everyone.
  • Pinky G's Pizzeria: If you follow me on Instagram, you know pizza is my favorite thing to eat, so we obviously had to try a local pizza joint. The vibe of this restaurant was a lot of fun, laid back, and family friendly.
  • StillWest Brewery & Grill: This is a great dinner spot if you’re heading to the town rodeo! It’s within walking distance to the rodeo, and the food was delicious. It’s located at the base of Snow King Mountain, so sit on the patio and enjoy the views while you drink one of their house-brewed beers! This is a locally owned spot, that I would definitely recommend checking out! Roadhouse Brewing Company: Order the Bison burger, and thank me later! Do not leave Jackson without trying bison! It’s delicious! We sat at the bar, and loved the atmosphere of this bar. It’s upstairs, just past Beaver Creek Hats!

Place we will visit on our next trip to Jackson Hole:
  • The Blue Lion: We wanted to dine here, but didn’t get the chance to while we were visiting. I still wanted to add it to my recommendations list because our friends were able to have a date night here, and absolutely loved it! It is a fine dining restaurant though, so be prepared to spend a bit of money! If you’re into a romantic dinner with a side of live music, this is the place.
  • The Gun Barrel Steak & Game House: This is another restaurant we had friends go to, but didn’t get the chance to try ourselves. They said, ‘for a true taste of Wyoming, you’ve got to check this place out.’ They ordered Bison steak and raved about it!

Coffee Shops:
What’s a vacation without a stop at a cute coffee shop!? Blake and I LOVE finding local coffee shops wherever we travel!
  • Cowboy Coffee Co.: This place is as iconic as it sounds. Whether you’re grabbing a quick cup or sitting down to soak up the local vibe, their coffee is seriously delicious and it is locally brewed! I loved the aesthetic of this coffee shop!
  • Jackson Hole Roasters: Another coffee shop located on Main Street. We even bought a bag to bring back home, and have enjoyed every cup!

The Ultimate Hat Shop: Beaver Creek Hats

Let’s talk fashion—specifically, Western fashion. Buying cowboy hats while in Jackson was at the top of our list of things to do as soon as we got there! We literally checked in and went straight to Beaver Creek Hats, and I’m so glad we did. While some hats are a few hundred dollars, they do have a good selection of hats at a lower price point as well. I purchased the cutest green cowboy hat for $200, and had it branded as well. For three brands, it was $30. Blake found a cream cowboy hat for $200 as well. They are an investment, but this is the hat shop to check out, if you’re not wanting to spend $500+ on a cowboy hat. Check out my video of our experience here!

Hiking to Delta Lake: An Adventure You Can't Miss

One of the highlights of our trip was hiking to Delta Lake. If you’re up for a challenge, this trail is a must-do. This hike is NOT for beginners. It is intense, and it’s about 7 miles long, which took us about 5 hours to complete with breaks for water/food and photos, but it was TOTALLY worth it. I’d 100% do it again. Picture this: you’re trekking through gorgeous forested paths, crossing rivers, and then BAM—there it is, Delta Lake, with water so blue it’s like the sky dropped down for a swim. We spent a solid hour just soaking in the views and snapping pics that don’t even do it justice.
Pro tip: Start early to avoid the crowds, and don’t forget your camera—you’ll definitely want to capture the beauty of this place.

Off-Road Fun: UTV Ride with Off Grid Jackson Hole

We did a half-day, self guided UTV ride with Off Grid Jackson Hole. It’s about an hour outside of town, but totally worth the drive. Just the hour drive to the ranch was worth it, to be honest! We weren’t prepared for the frigid morning, so make sure to dress in layers if you start at 7:30AM like we did! We rode through rugged trails, splashed through streams, and saw wildlife! We had the best time exploring the mountains on a UTV! Check out my video of our experience here

Teton Village:

We decided to spend a rainy morning at Teton Village, and we were so happy we did because we were able to see a Moose and her baby! It was so cool to see, but we were told to stay a good distance away because moose can actually get really aggressive if you get too close. Jackson Hole is very strict about the distance you stay from wildlife, to not disturb them, and to keep everyone safe!

We were planning to ride the gondola to the top of the mountain, but it was a bit too expensive in our opinion. It’s $50 to ride the gondola, and the reason I wanted to ride up was to enjoy waffles from Corbet’s Cabin, but it was closed for the day. We walked around the shops, but didn’t find much more exciting other than the moose.

Exploring Jackson Hole and the Grand Teton National Park:

My favorite part of the trip was honestly just riding in the Jeep, that we rented, and exploring the Grand Teton National Park. We stopped by many popular spots, that I’ll list out below. I’d highly suggest taking a day to drive to Delta Lake, and then exploring through the national park. The mountains were incredibly mesmerizing.

  • Jenny Lake: A top destination for visitors, Jenny Lake offers scenic boat rides, hiking trails, and access to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. The crystal-clear waters and surrounding peaks make it a must-see spot.
  • Mormon Row Historic District: Famous for its picturesque barns with the Teton Range in the background, this area provides a glimpse into early homesteading in the valley and is a favorite for photographers.
  • Schwabacher Landing: This serene spot along the Snake River offers reflections of the Teton Range and is a great place for wildlife viewing, especially at sunrise.
  • Oxbow Bend: A scenic overlook where the Snake River curves and reflects the Tetons, Oxbow Bend is ideal for photography and wildlife spotting, including moose, bears, and birds.

Shop My Jackson Hole Outfits

I totally leaned into western fashion on this trip, and realized I really love the western vibes! I’ve linked all of my outfits on my LiketoKnow.it, so if you need any outfit inso, check mine out here!

So there you have it—our Jackson Hole adventure in a nutshell! Whether you’re hiking, eating, shopping, or just soaking up the stunning views, this place truly has something for everyone. I hope this guide helps you plan your own Jackson Hole getaway. Until next time, happy travels!
