I'm getting married! ...and to be honest I'm still in shock! I thought it would be fun to put my story into words on my blog, so here it goes.... December 29th, 2021 - Park City, Utah - 38° was the high/ 13° was the low Blake and I were visiting Salt Lake City to visit one of my best friends, Nicole, from college, whom I had not seen in 2 years, and we were celebrating our birthdays, which are both in December. We woke up that day and Blake immediately told me his stomach wasn't feeling great, he blamed it on the airport pizza we ate the night before for dinner. I believed him, and of course didn't think anything else of it. We decided to run a few errands the first day in SLC to get things in order to enjoy the rest of our trip. I decided to wear my favorite outfit of the trip this day. This detail will make sense later in the story. Our friends decided to go skiing early that morning, but told us we would be visiting Park City later, and they were hopeful to catch a sunset! We went to rent my skis and Blake's snowboard, then went to grab some lunch at a Mexican restaurant. This is when I started to worry a little about Blake's upset stomach because he decided to not use hot sauce, which is very odd for him, but he assured me he was ok, again just the pizza from dinner, and this time added the pretzels and cookies from the airplane. On the way back to where we were staying we stopped to grab a latte from a local coffee shop, and then grabbed some snacks from a grocery store. On the way back Blake says to me, 'I'm not sure what I'm going to wear tonight!' He's never worried about what he is going to wear! I responded, ' I'm not changing, this is my favorite sweater I brought!' If you know me personally, you know I almost always change my 'day time' outfit for dinner! Why not?! I sure packed enough to change! However, this night was different, and I'm so happy about it! We headed back to our home for the week to freshen up, and wait on our friends to come get us for the ride out to Park City. Nicole, my friend from college, walks into the apartment and says she has to let her friends dog out because her plane was delayed and she wouldn't be getting home anytime soon. Then she tells us, her boyfriend, whom we had not met yet, would be driving us to Park City and she would meet us there. She played this off so well, I'm still in shock that she was lying! Blake and I venture up to the top floor of her apartment, where we were staying to see how much of the city we could see. I took a few selfies with him, enjoyed the views, and told him we had to get a photo at dinner (LOL)! Drew arrived at the apartment to pick us up, so we hopped in the car, met him for the first time (lol), and drove up to Park City! Little did I know, as I was mesmerized by the snow covered alpine trees, Blake is whispering 'oh sh**' to Drew because for some reason he was nervous! Also, little did I know, Nicole was meeting with the photographer, trying to find the perfect spot for Blake to propose (not letting her friends dog out), and needed a little more time, so Drew took us up a Main Street Park City, which again, I was in awe. We arrive at St. Regis Deer Valley and took The Funicular up to the top of the hotel, where I thought we would be grabbing drinks and eating dinner! Again, totally clueless that Blake is extremely nervous! He hid that so well! Nicole tells me that the bar is backed up, so after we placed our drink orders, she suggested we go take photos, and of course I was okay with that! She proceeds to say, "I'm just going to leave my jacket and purse here!'' For some odd reason, I agreed I would also leave my jacket, despite that it was 30 something degrees outside, but I did bring my purse. We walk down some stairs, and outside to a view that was too pretty to put into words. Nicole takes my purse and my phone and Blake and I walk over to exactly where he was proposing to take what I thought was a iPhone quality photo! Just as I get ready to smile, I feel Blake moving, and notice he is getting on one knee! When I say I was in shock, I was literally in SHOCK. Y'all I swear I thought I'd know when he was planning to propose, but I had absolutely NO idea. I almost told him to get up because I thought he was faking it (he'd done that a few times leading up to this *eye roll*). He pulled the ring box out so fast, so that I knew this time was real! He then turns and points to a photographer who he hired to snap photos for us. The best part, when I said yes, the skies opened up and started to dump snow! It was the most magical way I could've imagined being proposed to! I'm so excited for this next chapter in our lives, and I am so happy he proposed at St. Regis Deer Valley! That will forever be a special place to us, and a moment we will never forget! Also, forever thankful for Nicole and Drew for helping Blake pull off this surprise proposal! I can't wait to bring you all along as I begin to plan our wedding!
