"We're going to Disney World!" I screamed as we were pulling out of our driveway at 5:30 in the morning to embark on the 6 hour drive to the 'most magical place on Earth!' We had decided to visit Disney World just two days before we would leave for our trip to Orlando. A very last minute decision to say the least, but as a Disney World fan, I have experience in the parks so I wasn't too worried. I knew we needed a plan to take full advantage of our one day adventure, so I started planning on the 'My Disney Experience' app. I highly recommend downloading this app in order to plan out you Disney Days and check wait times of each attraction. My first step was to figure out which park we wanted to visit because we decided to buy a one park only ticket. As a Disney fan, I knew Magic Kingdom is where the best firework show is, the iconic rides, and Main Street (my favorite place in all of Disney World)! However, I struggled because I knew Epcot is highly praised as the park to venture to for an adult only trip. Despite my doubts, we picked Magic Kingdom because I knew if we went to Epcot we would spend a lot more money eating and drinking our way around the park. When we first walked in the park, I was overwhelmed with emotions feeling like a kid again. I looked over at Blake and saw his eyes wide open, just taking it all in as he said out loud, "This is nuts!" My heart sang. I was so happy he was excited for our day in Magic Kingdom. I made a list of attractions I wanted to ride that way we weren't aimlessly walking around the park. We started in Fantasyland with 'Peter Pans Flight.' (...to be continued...) I want to warn all adults, Magic Kingdom is a park full of attractions, not rollercoasters. Something you need to understand if you're visiting Disney World for the first time is that it is unlike any other theme park. The attractions are an experience. There is a lot of detail that goes into each one, and many of them are very slow, telling you a story along the way. Peter Pan's flight is just that, very slow, with a story line. To be completely honest, Magic Kingdom was a lot more "kiddie" than I remember, but nonetheless, we made the most out of our day and had a blast! Picking back up.... The second attraction we ventured to was 'Space Mountain.' I wasn't leaving the park until we rode this rollercoaster, that is completely in the dark by the way, because it is hands down my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction. We were going to head to '7 Dwarfs Mine Train' after, but the line was about 2 hours long all day, and to be honest, we weren't waiting in a line over one hour. We also rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger, and visited the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, all of which I would recommend! Unfortunately, Tron was under construction or we would have ridden that as well. A few Disney tips I've learned over the years that we took advantage of: FREE CUPS OF WATER at any quick service location and Starbucks! You can also BRING YOUR OWN WATER AND FOOD! Yes, you read that right! We brought lunch, snacks, and waters! We only bought dinner, and waters for dinner because we didn't want to wait in line at Starbucks, and wanted more than a cup of water. For dinner we decided to eat at Casey's Corner. Blake got the extra long hot dog smothered in chili, and I got the corndog bites (a Magic Kingdom MUST HAVE)! Again, we decided to save some money by bringing lunch, so this was our only meal in the park. While we waited for 7:45 PM to roll around to grab our seat for the fireworks show, we decided to watch the Mickey Mouse Philhar Magic 3D show, which was HILARIOUS thanks to the adorable little boy behind us that just couldn't get enough giggles out as the characters performed! We were exhausted by 6 o'clock, but I really wanted to wait to see the 'Happily Ever After' firework show. The show starts at 9 PM, but I highly recommend grabbing a seat on Main Street by the Ice cream Parlor by at least 7:45 PM. Thousands of people flock to Main Street for the show and it's almost impossible to get a good seat unless you plan ahead. I wanted a sweet treat while we waited on the show to start, and decided on an ice cream cone after finding out the Ice Cream Parlor serves dairy free options! The chocolate ice-cream was amazing! Finally, the firework show started and it was well worth the wait. We spoke to a Disney cast member (an employee) who told us the show is sponsored by Pandora and cost thousands of dollars to put on each night. 'Happily Ever After' will be ending on September 29th, 2021 though and Disney Enchantment - A New Nighttime Spectacular featuring Fireworks, Disney Music, Enhanced Lighting and Projections will start on October 1, 2021. I highly recommend staying for the firework show at every single park! It's the best way to end your Disney day! As far as COVID protocols, every Disney cast member wore a mask the entire time. Guest were required to wear masks whenever indoors, including attractions. Social distancing was not required, therefore it was definitely not happening. If you're still uncomfortable in crowds, I highly suggest you wait to visit Disney World. SO long story short, we had the best time during our one day Disney World Adventure. I am happy Blake was able to experience the magic of Magic Kingdom, however if we go back we would chose Animal Kingdom or Epcot as I think those parks are geared more towards adult interest!
